Steve Michel
Steve remembers downtube shifters and friction shifting and how to fix
them. A Santa Rosa native, Steve has been riding bikes and working in
bike shops since the early 1980s. He was the first employee for Dave’s
Bike Sport, that venerable institution of Sonoma County bike culture.
In the 1990s, Steve was lured away from the cycling scene by a passion
for the cinema. He worked in the film industry for several years before
resettling down in Santa Rosa. When a mutual friend put Steve and
Bradley in touch in the Fall of 2006, the concept of the West County
Revolution grew wings. With over 20 years of experience as a
professional bike mechanic, Steve brings a real love of helping people
have fun on their bikes. Steve has ridden and raced his bike all over
the world, but his favorite places to ride are the hills west of
Sebastopol.
Bradley Saul
Bradley remembers watching Greg Lemond win the 1991 Tour de France
on television and immediately wanting a bicycle. Years later, he caught
the bike racing bug and has been hooked on bikes ever since. Bradley
raced with the University of Georgia cycling team before traveling the
racing circuit for a few years in his early twenties. He did manage to
finish his degree in English Literature along the way. In 2002, he
raced with the Jittery Joe’s Pro Cycling Team. A year later he stopped racing in order to start OrganicAthlete, a community of athletes dedicated to promoting an organic, vegan lifestyle. He is also the organizer of the Tour d’Organics
bike rides. Orginally a South Carolina native, Bradley moved to Sonoma
County in 2004 and absolutely loves the riding in West County. Bradley
rides on a bicycle made of bamboo (yes, it’s really bamboo).
